Khulna, Mar 25 (V7N) - Four foreign commercial ships docked at the Mongla Port Jetty at the same time. The ships anchored at different places at the port jetty after Monday afternoon. Deputy Director of the Mongla Port Authority Md. Makruzzaman confirmed this information through a press note.
He said that the Panama flagged ship MV Jupiter carrying 4083 metric tons of machinery goods arrived at Jetty No. 5 of the port, the South Korean flagged ship MV Marigold carrying 5000 metric tons of Chittagong at Jetty No. 6 of the port, the Hong Kong flagged ship MV Han Hui carrying 170.410 metric tons of steel pipes at Jetty No. 7 of the port and the Barbados flagged ship MV Anka Blue carrying 1769.069 metric tons of machinery goods arrived at Jetty No. 8 of the port.  The four ships at the jetty have a total of 12,822.479 metric tons of goods.

A total of 14 commercial ships are currently berthing at the Mongla Port Jetty on Monday, including 4 foreign commercial ships, 2 at Base Creek, 5 at Herbaria, and 2 at the Gas Company in the Port Grind of Mongla Port for unloading goods. All these ships have various types of machineries, Chitagur, steel pipes, rice, coal, clinker, and fertilizer.

The Deputy Secretary of the Port also said that the outer bar dredging of the Bay of Bengal estuary at the outer anchorage of Mongla Port has been completed. Currently, the inner bar dredging is underway. As a result, the depth of the channel has increased, and commercial ships from abroad are now able to directly dock at the port jetty. He said that the simultaneous anchoring of 4 port jetties loaded with goods today is the result of port channel dredging.
