Tangail, Mar 28 (V7N)– As Eid approaches, the Jamuna Bridge-Dhaka Highway is experiencing a significant surge in motorcycle traffic, alongside the usual increase in public and private vehicle movement.

"Traffic on Jamuna Bridge-Dhaka Highway remains at normal speed despite increased traffic pressure. Cars are doing it. However, private cars and motorcycles are also on the highway, along with public transport. There is a lot of movement," a highway traffic official reported.

In the last 24 hours, a substantial number of motorcycles crossed the Jamuna Bridge, indicating a high volume of Eid travelers using this mode of transport.

Highway officials have noted the increasing traffic pressure as Eid draws closer, but maintain that vehicles are currently moving at normal speeds.

"Highway officials said that as the Eid day approaches, the highways are becoming more congested. The pressure of traffic is increasing. However, vehicles are moving at normal speeds," a traffic management spokesperson stated.

According to data from the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) Jamuna Bridge Site Office, a large number of vehicles have crossed the bridge in the past 24 hours.

"According to sources from the Jamuna Bridge Site Office of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA), In the last 24 hours, 35,227 vehicles have crossed this bridge. This includes tolls. A total of 2 crore 65 lakh 37 thousand 500 taka has been collected," a BBA report detailed.

To manage the increased traffic flow during the Eid travel period, the bridge authority has set up multiple toll booths and separate lanes for motorcycles.

"Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, Executive Engineer of Basek's Yajuna Bridge Site Office He said that a total of 18 booths will be set up, nine on each side of the Jamuna Bridge, during the Eid Yatra. Vehicles are crossing. In addition, there are two separate lanes for motorcycles on both sides. There are booths. People can travel freely," Executive Engineer Ahsanul Kabir Pavel confirmed.

The implementation of dedicated motorcycle lanes and increased toll booths aims to facilitate smoother traffic flow and ensure safer travel for Eid holidaymakers.
