Habiganj, ,Apr 1 (V7N) - A violent clash erupted in Bahubal upazila, Habiganj, after a woman was harassed while visiting a tea garden with her husband. The confrontation escalated into a two-hour-long fight between three villages—Baniyagaon, Chargao, and Joynagar—injuring over 100 people. The clash took place on Tuesday (April 1) evening in Mirpur Bazaar, where villagers used local weapons, bricks, and stones against each other.

The violence began when three young men from Chargao allegedly harassed a woman from Baniyagaon. When her husband protested, a verbal altercation ensued, spreading tension between the villages. By evening, the fight escalated as villagers from Joynagar joined in, supporting Baniyagaon. The battle was fought under torchlight, disrupting traffic on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.

At around 8 PM, police and military forces intervened, bringing the situation under control. The injured were rushed to Bahubal Upazila Health Complex and Habiganj 250-Bed District Hospital. Authorities have assured that a full investigation is underway, and legal action will be taken against those responsible.

As of 11 PM, Mirpur Bazaar remains tense, with heavy police deployment to prevent further violence. The incident has sparked concerns over rural law enforcement and public safety in the region.
