Dhaka, Apr 02 (V7N) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that certain advisors of the interim government are trying to tarnish the image of the party. He warned that strict action would be taken against those engaging in immoral activities in the party’s name.

He made these remarks during a press briefing at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Wednesday morning.

Rizvi emphasized that the interim government, led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, was formed on the principles of democracy. He asserted that it is the government's duty to ensure democratic processes, particularly elections.

"If the election roadmap is not announced soon, conspiracies will only intensify," he stated. He urged the authorities to complete the necessary reforms quickly and move forward with elections.

Addressing concerns over BNP’s stance on reforms, he clarified:
"BNP has never opposed reforms. The agreed reform proposals will be legalized once an elected government takes office."

Referring to a recent New York Times report on the alleged rise of Islamists in Bangladesh, Rizvi dismissed the claims as false propaganda. He accused “defeated forces” of manipulating the international media using illicit funds to tarnish the country's image.

He reiterated that BNP remains committed to democratic principles and fair governance despite the ongoing challenges and conspiracies.
