Habiganj, June 09 (V7N) – The body of Abdul Jalil, 35, who went missing in the rubber dam of the Sonai River in Bahra Union of Madhabpur Upazila, Habiganj, was recovered on Monday morning after an 18-hour search. His body was found floating in the river in the Akhalia area of Rajapur at approximately 6:35 AM. Locals spotted the body and immediately informed the police.
The deceased, Abdul Jalil, was the son of Tayyab Ali, a resident of Mahmudpur village in Bulla Union of Madhabpur Upazila.
Upon receiving the information, a team from the Mantala Police Investigation Center arrived at the scene and prepared a post-mortem report on the body. Sub-Inspector (SI) Anjan Talukder of the investigation center confirmed the recovery. Habiganj Deputy Commissioner Dr. Faridur Rahman and Madhabpur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Zahid Bin Kashem also visited the scene to assess the situation.
According to family sources, Jalil had gone for a bath in the rubber dam with friends on Sunday afternoon (June 8) and subsequently went missing. A diving team from the Madhabpur Fire Service immediately launched a rescue operation that continued until evening, but without success.
The discovery of his body this morning in the Akhalia area on the west side of the Sonai River brought an end to the search, with locals identifying him. This sudden and tragic death has cast a deep shadow of grief over Jalil's family and has caused widespread sorrow among the local community.
