Mongla, Dec 13 (V7N) – Sheikh Abdul Wadud, the Jamaat-e-Islami nominated candidate for the Bagerhat-03 (Mongla-Rampal) constituency, has commenced an intensive election campaign following the announcement of the schedule. On Friday morning, he began his campaign from Ward No. 3 of the Mongla Municipality, distributing campaign leaflets and requesting votes from residents.

Wadud is conducting extensive door-to-door visits, engaging with shopkeepers and residents along the streets, emphasizing direct voter outreach. This marks his third electoral contest for the constituency. In previous elections, he competed under the “Daarripalla” and “Dhaner Shish” symbols.

The campaign on Friday drew a large turnout of local Jamaat leaders and supporters. Speaking to the public, Sheikh Abdul Wadud expressed gratitude to the interim government and the Election Commission for announcing the schedule, noting that the election would restore voters’ rights and strengthen democracy.

He highlighted his longstanding connection with the constituents, saying, “I have been working with the people of Mongla-Rampal for 34 to 35 years. I previously contested elections twice and am now returning for a third term with the Daarripalla symbol. The response from the people has been overwhelmingly positive. The voters want a society free from terrorism, extortion, and land grabbing, and Jamaat is the only party capable of establishing such a society.”

Local observers noted the campaign’s energetic approach, with frequent visits to households and public engagement, aiming to mobilize support ahead of the elections.
