HABIGANJ, May 11, (V7N) – A Tk 20 lakh development project has been launched in Chunarughat tea gardens of Habiganj to improve the living standards of tea workers and promote socio-economic progress. The initiative, taken by Habiganj-4 MP Syed Md. Faisal, prioritizes long-neglected infrastructural needs in tea estates.

According to local sources, allocations have been made for guide walls, culverts, paved drains, school boundaries, and brick-paved roads across several gardens including Deundi, Brajanand Mandir Line, Chandpur, Ramganga, Chaklapunji, Lalchand, Nasinabad, and Laskarpur. For example, Tk 4 lakh has been allocated for paved drains in Chandpur Tea Garden and another Tk 4 lakh for drainage near the Durga Temple in Ramganga Tea Garden.

Tea worker Ranjit Kalindi expressed gratitude, noting that MP Faisal’s son, Syed Shafqat Ahmed, had already helped solve water problems, improved temples, and distributed school uniforms. “Earlier, there was a lot of hardship, but now it seems our voices are being listened to,” he said.

Shafqat Ahmed emphasized that tea workers are an important community in the region. He said development activities are being implemented step by step to address long-standing problems, aiming to improve both infrastructure and family living standards.

Locals believe these projects have instilled new hope among tea workers’ families. If implemented quickly, they expect a visible improvement in quality of life, marking a significant step toward socio-economic uplift in the tea garden areas.
