DHAKA, May 11 (V7N) – A Dhaka court today ordered two personal staffers of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s former Defence and Security Adviser, Major General (Retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, to jail after the end of their remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The accused are Tarique’s driver Md Mohidul Islam and house caretaker Md Chan Miah. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam passed the order after police produced them before the court and sought their detention until completion of the investigation.

Earlier, on May 5, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Manjurul Islam had placed the duo on a three-day remand. Police arrested Mohidul from Thakurgaon and Chan from Bhashantek in Dhaka on April 19. They had previously been remanded three times in connection with the killing of trader Abdul Wadud during the July Mass Uprising.

On May 1, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi had also placed them on a four-day remand each in the Anti-Terrorism Act case. According to the case statement, leaders and activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and Awami League brought out a flash procession in front of Rupayan Tower at Bangla Motor on September 12, 2025, chanting anti-government and anti-state slogans.

Police later filed the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act, which continues to be investigated.
