Khagrachhari, May 17 (V7N) — Three individuals have been arrested along with firearms in a joint operation conducted by security forces in Ramgarh upazila of Khagrachhari district.
According to police, the arrested individuals are allegedly members of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF). The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon during an operation carried out by the army and police in the Budangchhara area under Patachhara union.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sathoai Marma (35), Ronel Chakma (28), and Searching Marma alias Raju (19). Police said Sathoai Marma sustained bullet injuries during the operation.
Authorities stated that Ronel Chakma is a collector for the UPDF, while the other two are also linked to the organization. During the operation, law enforcement personnel reportedly came under fire, prompting a brief exchange of gunfire after which the suspects attempted to flee.
Following a search operation in the area, injured suspect Sathoai Marma was found with gunshot wounds, while Ronel Chakma and Raju Marma were detained.
Police said a firearm identified as an AK-22 rifle, along with six rounds of live ammunition, a magazine and other accessories, were recovered from the scene.
The injured suspect was first taken to Ramgarh Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, officials added.
