MADARIPUR, July 27 (V7N) – A daylong Quran recitation competition was held in Kalkini, Madaripur, drawing participation from over 300 students representing various districts across Bangladesh. The event, organized by the Purbo Alipur Mollarchar Nurani Hafezia Madrasa, turned the madrasa grounds into a vibrant gathering of aspiring young Quran reciters.

Participants came from districts including Shariatpur, Barisal, Faridpur, and Gopalganj. The madrasa extended invitations to numerous institutions, resulting in a remarkable turnout that transformed the competition into a festive assembly of talent and devotion.

The event featured competitive recitation rounds assessed by a four-member panel of judges from Dhaka, who evaluated and announced the winners. Among the participants, two were awarded gold medals, four received silver medals, and twenty were presented with honorary certificates. All other participants were given consolation prizes in recognition of their dedication and effort.

Osman Lashkar, a participant from a Qawmi madrasa in Shariatpur, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I’m extremely happy to take part in this competition. My dream is to become a renowned Hafiz of the Quran, and this event has brought me one step closer.”

Mohammad Mehedi Khan from Boro Kalinagar Hafezia Madrasa in Kalkini, taking part for the first time, reflected on the significance of the opportunity: “It’s truly a matter of luck to be here. Many students wanted to come but couldn’t. My madrasa chose me to participate, and I’m proud to represent them.”

Another participant, Mahabub Islam, emphasized the value of community over competition: “Winning isn’t everything. Being here allowed me to connect with students from different madrasas. It felt like a grand reunion.”

Siraj Sardar, former president of the madrasa’s managing committee and chief organizer of the event, stated, “The competition was organized with the aim of spreading the light of knowledge through the Quran. We plan to arrange such programs on a larger scale in the future.”

The event was supported by BM Alomgir Hossain, an expatriate based in the United States, alongside widespread cooperation from local residents, ensuring its success and smooth execution.
