Chittagong, Oct 13 (V7N) – The campaign period for the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) elections ends at midnight tonight, and candidates are making a final push to win over voters before the clock runs out.

Since early Monday (October 13) morning, candidates and their supporters have been roaming the campus, meeting students, and seeking last-minute support with promises of improved housing, transportation, campus safety, and research development.

On the final day of campaigning, candidates are leaving no stone unturned, going door to door to appeal for votes. However, many voters have said they will cast their ballots based on the qualifications and integrity of individual candidates, not merely party panels.

According to the University Election Commission, five faculty buildings have been designated as polling centers, each with 12 secret voting booths, totaling 60 booths across the campus.

The Business Administration Faculty Building will host the largest number of voters, with 7,073 students from Pritilata Hall, Bijoy-24 Hall, Shahid Farhad Hossain Hall, and Shilpi Rashid Chowdhury Hostel.
At the Muhammad Yunus Bhaban (Faculty of Social Sciences) center, 6,616 students from Nawab Faizunnesa Hall, Shamsun Nahar Hall, Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia Hall, and Atish Dipankar Hall will cast their votes.

Students from Shahjalal Hall, A.F. Rahman Hall, and Alaol Hall will vote at the Shaheed Hridoy Chandra Tarua Bhaban (Faculty of Arts and Humanities New Building) center, while those from Amanat Hall, Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall, and Masterda Surya Sen Hall will vote at the Science Faculty Bhaban center. The IT Faculty Bhaban, where 4,036 students from Suhrawardy Hall are registered, will have the fewest voters.

A total of 415 candidates are contesting for 26 posts in the central CUCSU election, while 493 candidates are competing for 14 Hall Sangsad and 10 Hostel Sangsad positions. The total number of registered voters is 27,516.

According to the official schedule, voting will take place on Wednesday, October 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with counting to begin immediately afterward in the Returning Officer’s office.
