Cox’s Bazar, Jan 05, (V7N) - The students involved in the anti-discrimination movement in Cox's Bazar have directed a challenge towards the Chhatra League, with one of the key organizers, Tarin, using humor to convey his message: “Don’t call us friends if you don’t show up.”

Tarin also urged the Chhatra League leaders and activists, saying, “Stop sitting in your corners and browsing Facebook. If you have the courage, come to the streets, come to the field.”

On January 4, which marked the founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League, students from the anti-discrimination movement took to the streets to oppose the organization. At around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, the protesters gathered at Napita Pukur Para in the city of Cox's Bazar.

A protest march was held, which circled the main streets of the city, concluding at the Old Shaheed Minar, where a brief rally was organized.

During the rally, organizer Tarin emphasized, “We are warriors with pens, not guns. We didn’t come to this movement to stay silent. We are living on borrowed time, don’t try to intimidate us.”

Student leader Zinia mentioned, “The Chhatra League has spread various rumors. It’s not just about flash protests; no action should be taken to allow any of their factions to thrive. The student community is awake and ready to resist them.”

Student leader Mohammad Shahed stated, “As long as the student community in Cox’s Bazar is alive, there will be no place for the Chhatra League. We cannot allow any new form of fascism to rise.”

Organizer Laden added, “The fall of Sheikh Hasina marks the end of India's dominance. There will never be Indian subjugation on the soil of Bengal again.”

Around fifty members of the anti-discrimination student movement participated in the protest march, showing strong resistance to the Chhatra League's influence in the region.

This protest highlights the growing unrest among students, who are calling for greater accountability and an end to discrimination in the political landscape of Bangladesh.
