Dhaka, Jan 23 (V7N) — The Fire Service and Civil Defence is conducting extensive operations across commercial and industrial establishments throughout Bangladesh to enhance fire safety.
A press release issued by the fire service’s media cell on Thursday shared details of these operations, which are part of the ongoing initiatives to increase fire safety awareness.
These operations have been supported by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) and local district and upazila administrations, with the help of mobile courts.
The release noted that the fire service is actively engaged in conducting drills, public outreach, training programs, and distributing leaflets to promote fire safety awareness.
Furthermore, fire service inspectors conduct regular inspections and issue notices to various establishments to ensure they meet fire safety standards.
Since the fire service does not have its own magistrates, mobile courts are being organized with the assistance of district and upazila administrations, as well as magistrates from Rajuk in Dhaka.
A total of 37 mobile courts have been conducted nationwide this month, with Dhaka division seeing the highest number: 24 mobile courts.
Establishments that were found lacking proper fire safety measures were fined Tk41 lakh 65 thousand during these operations.
