DHAKA, May 08 (V7N) - Bangladesh has decided to adopt the Sri Lankan model as a strategy to combat and ultimately eliminate dengue fever.

The decision was reached by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare during a recent meeting with relevant stakeholders, where strategies to address the current dengue outbreak were outlined. This information was conveyed in a press release issued today by the Press Information Department (PID).

According to the new plan, dengue testing kits will be procured using administrative budgets. Furthermore, healthcare workers will receive specialized training focused on both the treatment and prevention of dengue.

The press release also detailed the formation of a coordination team. This team will comprise local leaders, religious figures, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) cadets, and youth volunteers. Their primary role will be to conduct widespread awareness campaigns throughout communities.

In addition to these measures, control rooms have been established at local government levels, and mobile courts are actively operating in the field to support and enforce prevention efforts.
