DHAKA, May 20, (V7N)– The NBR Reform Unity Council on Tuesday declared their meeting with the finance adviser unsuccessful.

In a press release, the council stated that a 13-member delegation from the NBR Reform Unity Council met with Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed at the Conference Room of the Finance Division, with two other advisers also present. The meeting was also attended by members of the Revenue Reform Advisory Committee, three former members of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the secretary of the Finance Ministry, and the chairman of the National Board of Revenue.

“We would like to inform all concerned that the meeting ended without yielding any fruitful outcome,” the press release said.

The NBR Reform Unity Council announced that an official press briefing will be held on Wednesday to disclose their next course of action.

Furthermore, the council stated that all officials and employees at all levels working under the Income Tax, Customs, and VAT departments in NBR's Dhaka-based offices will hold a sit-in program on the ground floor of the NBR headquarters. Officials and employees of NBR offices outside Dhaka will conduct similar sit-in programs at their respective workplaces. These demonstrations are scheduled to begin at 9:00 am and will continue until the conclusion of the press briefing.
