FEB 12 (V7N) - Unofficial results show BNP candidate Khandakar Abdul Muktadir taking a commanding lead in Sylhet-1 constituency. From 106 of 215 polling centres, Muktadir has secured 95,276 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Maulana Habibur Rahman, has received 62,510 votes. The current margin stands at 32,766 votes, according to data from election agents and relevant offices. Sylhet-1 comprises Sylhet Sadar upazila and Sylhet City Corporation areas, with a total of 680,946 registered voters.

Meanwhile, Sylhet-6 (Golapganj-Bianibazar) is witnessing a close contest. Results from 50 of 103 polling centres show BNP candidate Emran Ahmed Chowdhury with 32,822 votes, while Jamaat-e-Islami’s Md Selim Uddin has secured 27,130 votes. The margin between the two candidates currently stands at 5,692 votes.
