FEB 12 (V7N) - The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has won all three parliamentary constituencies in Thakurgaon district in the 13th national election.
In Thakurgaon-1, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, contesting with the Sheaf of Paddy symbol, secured victory. Dr. Abdus Salam, also representing BNP, won Thakurgaon-2, while Zahidur Rahman claimed Thakurgaon-3, both on the same symbol.
Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul praised the voting process, describing the election as “festive, peaceful and beautiful.” He noted the remarkable enthusiasm and participation of voters after visiting more than a hundred polling centres in the district.
Thakurgaon has 1,255,017 registered voters, including 598,488 women, 670,022 men, and seven transgender voters. Additionally, 10,292 voters registered for postal ballots, comprising 2,326 women and 7,966 men.
