Dhaka, Aug 8 (V7N) - BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said BNP is working to move the country forward by overcoming the destruction left behind by the fascist Awami League government.

"When the Awami League destroyed the country, the responsibility of saving it from that debris fell on the BNP. While the BNP is working to take the country forward, a certain quarter and a certain party are creating instability," he said while speaking as special guest at a rally of doctors organized to mark the 37th founding anniversary of the Doctors' Association of Bangladesh (DAB) at the Jatiya Sangsad's LD Hall premises.

Fakhrul said attempts are being made to push the country back into instability, urging everyone to remain vigilant. "We have seen in the past that whenever the country begins to rise, a certain quarter, through national and international conspiracies, pulls it back again," he said.

Addressing the physicians, he said doctors are among the most highly educated members of society and play an important role in the country. He urged them to make people aware of the importance of political stability and the vision of building a new Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

"We want to build such a Bangladesh where new development, human dignity, and a state and society based on equality will be established," he said, calling upon all to take an oath to build a new Bangladesh under Tarique Rahman's leadership. "Our slogan will be Bangladesh first."

Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman planted two saplings at the LD Hall premises, hoisted the national flag, and inaugurated the rally by releasing pigeons and balloons.

At the rally, Dr Mostafa Adib Sumon presented a paper on "Bangladesh's Health Sector: From Crisis to Solution," while Saif Mohammad presented on "The Rise of the National Health System."

DAB President Professor Harun Al Rashid presided over the programme. Dr Zubaida Rahman; Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof A Z M. Zahid Hossain; Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain; State Minister M A Muhit; Prime Minister's Special Assistant for Health Affairs S M Ziauddin Haidar; and DAB Secretary General Zahirul Islam Shakil also spoke.
