Dhaka, Aug 22 (V7N) – The floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) operated by Excelerate Energy at Maheshkhali in Cox's Bazar resumed gas supply today following a three-day shutdown, with an early-arriving LNG cargo boosting supplies to the national grid .
The FSRU resumed operations at around 2:00 pm and is currently supplying approximately 100 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of gas to the national grid, Petrobangla Chairman Abdul Mannan said. With gas from both of the country's LNG terminals, total LNG-based supply increased to around 686 mmcfd .
An LNG cargo scheduled to arrive on Sunday arrived a day ahead of schedule, enabling the terminal to resume operations. At around 2:00 pm today, LNG-based gas supply stood at only 580 mmcfd. Following the arrival of the new cargo, supply increased to around 686 mmcfd .
Of the total LNG supply, Summit is currently providing around 580 mmcfd of gas. The country's overall gas supply has increased to around 2,300 mmcfd .
"We are working to bring more cargoes to keep gas supply at a reliable stage," the Chairman said .
The Excelerate terminal was initially shut down following a fire on July 21, which cut approximately 450 mmcfd of gas supply for over two weeks . Although the terminal later resumed partial operations on August 6, operations were suspended again from August 19 due to a cargo shortage and depleted LNG stocks .
