Dhaka, Oct 06 (V7N): BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has criticized the interim government for remaining silent regarding the recent killings by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). Speaking at a gathering in Khagtika Bazaar, Moulvibazar, on Sunday after meeting with the family of Swarna Das, a teenager who was shot dead by the BSF, Rizvi condemned the government's lack of response.

Rizvi stated, "Under the Awami League government, innocent lives were lost at the border without any protest or statement from the authorities. Sheikh Hasina bowed to India and failed to defend our sovereignty. Now that the interim government is in charge, why hasn't there been a protest against the brutal killing of Swarna Das? This is the question of the people."

He further added that incidents of communal tension are often framed as attacks on specific religious groups, but the BSF kills indiscriminately at the border, without regard to religion. "Just as they hanged Felani, they killed Swarna. Despite repeated calls for peace at the border, India has ignored them, and since Hasina's departure, the aggression has escalated," he remarked.

Rizvi questioned the interim government's indifference, saying, "Since August 5, Dr Yunus's government has taken charge, and the people trust them. But why are they silent about the border killings? Why is there no discussion about the murder of this young girl?"

Calling for swift reforms and elections, Rizvi alleged that those connected to the previous government are still being supported in various ways, accusing them of conspiring to undermine the current administration. He also criticized the continued efforts to exile former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, asserting that despite false charges and imprisonment, she has not surrendered.

Rizvi concluded by offering his condolences to the family of Swarna Das, extending support to them in their time of grief.
