Dhaka, Oct 12 (V7N) — Gayeshwar Chandra Roy , a senior leader and member of the BNP Standing Committee , emphasized that practicing politics within religious institutions, such as mosques or temples, does not contribute to societal welfare. He made this statement while speaking to the media at Dhakeshwari National Temple on Friday , during his visit on Mahaashtami , the third day of Durga Puja .

In his remarks, Roy highlighted the significance of religion as a guiding way of life that teaches individuals to love and respect others. "No one is born greater or lesser than another. We are all Bangladeshis , and it is our collective heritage and values that we must protect," he said.

He further added that Bangladesh's problems must be solved by its own people, as foreign nations will not champion their rights. "We need to establish our own rights; no outsider will do that for us," Roy asserted, calling for unity and self-reliance in addressing the country's challenges.

However, the BNP leader expressed concerns about the inappropriate use of religious platforms for political activities. "While everyone has their own politics, politics should not be practiced within religious institutions like mosques or temples . It does not lead to progress and is undesirable," Roy stated.

His comments were made during a peaceful celebration of Mahaashtami at Dhakeshwari National Temple , where devotees were gathering for the traditional rituals of the Sharidiya Durga Puja festival.
