Dhaka, Aug 05 (V7N) – Senior Joint Chief Coordinator of the National Citizens Party (NCP), Hannan Masud, has announced his boycott of the July Declaration ceremony, citing the exclusion of all 158 coordinators of the July Uprising movement.

Masud made the announcement early Monday (August 4) through a statement posted on his personal Facebook account at around 2:00 am.

Key Points from Hannan Masud’s Statement:

  • He confirmed receiving an invitation card to the event but criticized the government for failing to include all 158 coordinators and co-coordinators of the July Uprising.

  • "They may have set up some seats, but there will not be room for 158 people," he stated.

  • He questioned whether there would be seats reserved for the families of martyrs, pointing out that those who led the uprising and laid the foundation of the current government are now being overlooked.

  • “Those whose courage and leadership led to this uprising and this government, are worthless in less than a year,” Masud wrote.

  • He emphasized that if martyrs’ families and his fellow movement leaders are not honored, he will not attend.

“I, Abdul Hannan Masud, personally announce to boycott tomorrow’s July Declaration program,” he declared.

The July Declaration is scheduled to be read today (Tuesday, August 5) at 5:00 PM by Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The event will be broadcast live on Bangladesh Television (BTV).
