Dhaka, Nov 28 (V7N) – The liaison committee representing eight political parties engaged in ongoing anti-government movements convened a meeting on Friday after Juma prayers at the central office of Jamaat-e-Islami. The meeting was chaired by the committee’s coordinator, Dr. Hamidur Rahman Azad.
Senior leaders from the participating parties attended the session, including Professor Ashraf Ali Akon, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh; Dr. Ahmad Abdul Kader, Secretary General of Khalafat Majlis; Maulana Musa bin Izhar, Secretary General of Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party; Engineer Rashed Prodhan, Vice President and spokesperson of JAGPA; Maulana Yusuf Sadiq Haqqani, Secretary General of Bangladesh Khelafat Andolon; and Advocate Anwarul Haque Chan, President of Bangladesh Development Party, among others.
During the meeting, the parties decided to launch an extensive nationwide campaign to build public support for a “Yes” vote in favour of implementing the July National Charter. Leaders emphasized the need for unified efforts to raise awareness across all regions.
The committee reiterated the importance of ensuring that the upcoming national parliamentary election is held in an environment free from fear, intimidation, and political interference. They called on the government to guarantee equal opportunities for all parties and to accept their previously announced five-point set of public demands.
The meeting expressed satisfaction with the preparations for the previously declared rallies scheduled to take place in seven divisional cities. The committee urged citizens in those regions to participate spontaneously and help ensure the success of the gatherings.
Leaders also expressed optimism that the upcoming divisional rallies would see massive turnout and strengthen the broader movement for fair and inclusive national elections.
