Thakurgaon, Feb 12, (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir cast his vote Thursday morning at Thakurgaon Government Girls High School Centre after offering prayers at his parents’ grave.

Speaking to local journalists, Fakhrul said, “A new journey of democracy has begun. We hope that this path will be smooth, and will lead our politics, economy, and country towards its intended goal.” He noted that the right to vote had been achieved “through many struggles and in exchange of blood,” citing years of killings, disappearances, and oppression.

Fakhrul expressed hope that the election would be fair, free, and impartial, marking a new chapter for Bangladesh. Addressing reports of unrest the previous night, he blamed “evil forces” seeking to sabotage the polls but said he believed they would be defeated.

Looking ahead, he voiced confidence in BNP’s prospects under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, saying, “We will win… Good governance and a smooth democratic system will be established in the country.”
