Feb 13 (V7N) - The National Citizen Party (NCP) on Friday alleged that leaders and activists of its 11-party alliance are being attacked in different parts of the country following the national election.

In a Facebook post, the party claimed that not only its political workers but also the homes and families of its leaders and activists are facing threats.

The NCP urged the winners of the election to restrain their leaders and supporters, warning that it would be “shameful” if the start of a democratic transition is marked by oppression of the opposition and like-minded groups.

The party also demanded a vote recount in several constituencies, alleging electoral irregularities during the polls held on Thursday.

According to available results, the National Citizen Party secured victory in six constituencies in the national election, positioning itself as a smaller but vocal opposition force raising concerns over post-election violence and transparency in the electoral process.
