Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader accused the BNP of having close ties with Jamaat and other communal forces. In a statement, Quader criticized BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's comments on Jamaat, calling them contradictory and illogical. Quader asserted that Jamaat's politics contradicts the spirit of Bangladesh, the Liberation War's ideology, and independence values.

Quader further claimed that BNP's historical ties with communal forces were established during the rule of military dictator Ziaur Rahman, who facilitated their political activities in Bangladesh.
