Dhaka, Sep 04 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has so far gathered more than 13 crore taka in relief funds and cash as part of their coordinated efforts to support flood victims across the country. This was revealed by Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, during a press conference held by the party's relief collection committee at Nayapaltan on Wednesday morning.

Dr. Zahid Hossain informed the media that over 10 crore taka worth of relief has already been distributed to those affected by the recent floods. He emphasized that the relief efforts are ongoing, with further distributions planned in the coming days.

He noted that the party is not accepting donations from individuals with questionable moral standing or those who were beneficiaries of the previous regime. In addition to immediate relief, the BNP has announced plans to launch rehabilitation activities, including the provision of housing, livestock, and crop seeds, once the initial relief phase is complete.

Dr. Zahid Hossain also urged Bangladeshi expatriates to contribute to the relief efforts and called for the resignation of the Election Commission. He demanded that an interim government be given the opportunity to form a new commission.

Furthermore, local BNP leaders and activists have been instructed to compile lists of the most vulnerable flood victims to ensure aid reaches those in greatest need. Dr. Zahid Hossain remarked that the BNP is fulfilling its responsibilities not only as a political party but also in conjunction with the government to aid the affected populations.
