Oct 05 V7N -Marseille's struggles continued on Friday as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Ligue 1's bottom-placed team, Angers. After a strong start to their season under new coach Roberto De Zerbi, with four wins and a draw, Marseille have now dropped points in consecutive matches, following last week's loss to Strasbourg.

Playing in a partially empty Velodrome Stadium due to league sanctions, Marseille had a chance to capitalize when Angers' Lilian Raolisoa was sent off in the 26th minute. However, just three minutes later, Marseille's Neal Maupay also received a red card, reducing both teams to 10 men for the remainder of the match.

Marseille took the lead in the 51st minute through Jonathan Rowe, but Angers quickly responded, with Farid El Melali scoring from a free kick just three minutes later. Despite some pressure, Marseille failed to secure the win.

De Zerbi acknowledged the team's struggles, accepting criticism while emphasizing that building a "great Marseille" takes time. He also noted that key players like Mason Greenwood, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Luis Henrique did not perform at their best, but still felt the team had chances to win.

The result leaves Marseille looking to rediscover their early season form as they push for consistency in Ligue 1.
