Fast bowler and vice-captain Taskin Ahmed has apologized for arriving late before Bangladesh's crucial T20 World Cup match against India, according to senior team member Shakib Al Hasan. Taskin missed the team bus but managed to reach the ground just in time for the toss and participated in the national anthem.

Taskin’s absence from the playing XI raised questions, especially as the team management did not provide any explanation. Media reports suggested that Taskin missed the bus due to oversleeping. Bangladesh opted for a batting-heavy lineup, replacing Taskin with middle-order batter Jaker Ali Anik, but they eventually lost the game by 50 runs in Antigua and Barbuda.

Shakib Al Hasan commented on the situation, explaining the logistical challenges in the West Indies and the standard procedure when a player misses the team bus. "It's a norm that the team bus will leave at a certain time, and usually the bus never waits," Shakib said. "If someone ever misses, he needs to get on the next car or if the manager manages a car or a taxi for him. West Indies is a difficult place because communication facilities were actually a bit difficult there."

Shakib added that Taskin arrived five to ten minutes before the toss, making it difficult for the team management to include him in the starting lineup. Despite this, Taskin apologized to the entire team, and his apology was accepted.

"It was over there because Taskin apologized to the entire team for this. Everyone in the team took this very normally because it was an unintentional mistake from his part. This kind of incident may happen to everyone. He admitted it, and then it ended there," Shakib explained.
