Jhalokathi, Dec 05 (V7N) – Family planning field workers in Rajapur upazila continued their peaceful sit-in on Thursday for the third consecutive day, demanding the implementation of the official recruitment policy. The demonstration took place in front of the Upazila Family Planning Office, where frontline service providers gathered from early morning.
Participants included Family Welfare Visitors (FWV), Family Welfare Assistants (FWA) and Family Planning Inspectors (FPI), the first-line supervisors at the union level. Members of the Bangladesh Family Planning Inspectors’ Association, as well as representatives of the Rights Realization Council for Inspectors and Family Welfare Assistants, also joined the protest.
The programme was led by Matabbar Biprodas, the convener of the Jhalokathi district unit. At least 30 field-level workers took part, including Inspector Talukder Ujjal, Inspectors Akter Khadija and Shamsunnahar, Family Welfare Assistants Sumona Akter, Jannatul Ferdous Priya, Sifat Jahan, Monjila and Razia, among others.
Workers said they have long been demanding full enforcement of the recruitment policy, but the issue remains unresolved. They stated that the delay is creating operational complications in delivering essential family planning services across rural areas. The participants warned that their protest may intensify if their demands are not met soon.
Those serving in family welfare and reproductive health programmes emphasized that implementing the proper recruitment rules is crucial to maintaining service quality at the grassroots level. They urged the authorities concerned to address their demands without delay.
