Brazil, Nov 23 (V7N)- The COP-30 climate conference concluded on a disappointing note, failing to reach major agreements on critical issues. No decisions were made on curbing the use of fossil fuels or preventing deforestation, as talks collapsed under strong opposition from influential fossil fuel-exporting nations.

Ultimately, the session concluded with a nominal agreement on financial assistance for poor countries to mitigate the effects of pollution.

Despite extended deadlines and lengthy meetings, countries could not agree on reducing the use of oil, coal, and gas. The United Kingdom, the European Union, and over 80 affected nations pushed for strong action, but Saudi Arabia, Russia, and other major exporters resisted restrictions to protect their economies.

“Many people had high hopes for this year’s conference to achieve even greater goals. I do not want to disappoint them,” said conference president Andre Correa do Lago, reflecting the widespread disappointment.
