Rangamati, Mar 24 (V7N) – The scenic hill district of Rangamati is witnessing an overwhelming influx of tourists during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, with thousands flocking to the region’s lakes, পাহাড় and natural attractions.
Surrounded by lush green hills and the serene waters of Kaptai Lake, the district has turned into a vibrant hub of activity, as visitors from across the country gather to enjoy the extended holiday. The surge began shortly after Eid and has intensified steadily, with major tourist spots now packed to capacity.
On the fourth day of Eid, the situation reached its peak, with nearly every corner of the town bustling with tourists. From city streets to remote attractions, the festive atmosphere has brought new life to the region.
Popular sites such as the iconic Rangamati Suspension Bridge, scenic boat rides across Kaptai Lake, and the picturesque Subalong Falls are drawing large crowds. Visitors are also thronging Polwell Park, where the mini suspension bridge and tranquil lakeside views offer a perfect getaway.
Tourists expressed satisfaction with their experience. A visitor from Bogura said Rangamati remains a top destination for family trips, especially during long holidays like Eid.
Officials say efforts are underway to improve facilities. District Council member Habib Azam noted that new walkways, stairs, passenger shelters, and toilets are being constructed, along with a modern watchtower in the Chittagong Hill Tracts to enhance the visitor experience.
Law enforcement agencies, including tourist police, have increased patrols and surveillance to ensure safety, allowing visitors to travel freely and securely.
According to Rangamati Tourism Complex Manager Alok Bikash Chakma, accommodation facilities are nearly fully booked, while over 2,000 tourists are visiting the suspension bridge daily.
Authorities and stakeholders hope that such a massive turnout during Eid will significantly boost the local tourism industry and businesses, reaffirming Rangamati’s status as one of Bangladesh’s most beloved natural destinations.
