DHAKA, March 24, (V7N) — Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today announced a special 180‑day priority programme aimed at modernizing and ensuring inclusive development of the education sector.
The minister issued directives during a post‑Eid meeting with officials and employees of the Education Ministry at its conference room. Senior officials from the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Technical and Madrasah Education Division, and Primary and Mass Education Division were present.
Under the initiative, free university‑level education will be ensured for children of those martyred and injured in the July Uprising. The programme also aligns with the electoral manifesto of the BNP and the goals of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Key measures include:

“One Teacher, One Tab” initiative and multimedia classrooms.

Compulsory third‑language education and technical education for all.

“One Child, One Tree” programme to promote environmental awareness.

Free school uniforms and shoes (keds) for primary students nationwide.

Student loan facilities for higher education abroad.

Recognition and respect for Haffezs (those who memorized the Holy Quran).

Rapid resolution of teacher training backlog, including training for teachers over 50 years of age.

Distribution of free uniforms and shoes to over 200,000 students within the next 180 days.

Provision of computer tablets to all teachers in primary, technical, madrasah, and school/college institutions within one year.

Introduction of mathematics Olympiads at upazila level and mandatory debate clubs in all institutions.
Dr Milon emphasized swift implementation of electoral commitments and urged practical steps to ensure quality education. He said the initiatives would modernize the sector and make it more inclusive, benefiting students across the country.
