DHAKA, Feb 15: The United Kingdom has expressed its willingness to work closely with Bangladesh’s new government on key shared priorities, including economic growth, migration, climate action and security, following the recent parliamentary elections.

A spokesperson from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) said London looks forward to strengthening cooperation while supporting Bangladesh’s democratic, economic and social reform agenda.

“We look forward to the new government advancing democratic, economic and social reforms,” the spokesperson said, welcoming the parliamentary elections held on February 12.

The UK noted that the peaceful electoral process delivered conclusive results, describing it as an important step forward for Bangladesh’s ambitions and the aspirations of its people.

Earlier, the United Kingdom congratulated Tarique Rahman and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party on their electoral victory.

In a separate message posted on its verified X handle, the British High Commission in Dhaka also greeted the people of Bangladesh as the country enters a new political chapter.

“We look forward to working together on our shared priorities: economic growth, migration, climate, and security,” the mission said, reaffirming the strong people-to-people ties between the two nations.
