TEHRAN/MOSCOW, March 23(V7N)– Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Monday, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that Washington and Tehran had engaged in “very good and productive conversations” toward resolving hostilities.
According to a readout from the Russian foreign ministry, Lavrov urged an “immediate cessation of hostilities and a political settlement” that respects the legitimate interests of all parties, “above all Iran.” The ministry said the call was initiated by Tehran.
The exchange comes as tensions remain high in the Middle East, with both Washington and Tehran signaling cautious openness to dialogue while continuing military operations in the region.
