Tehran, Jul 11 (V7N) — Iran's science, technology and knowledge-based economy adviser, Hossein Afshin, has claimed that the country's research infrastructure sustained approximately 300 million U.S. dollars in damage during the recent conflict with Israel.
According to Iran's state news agency IRNA, Afshin said the facilities targeted during the conflict were involved in the development of emerging technologies with no military application.
"These attacks were carried out with the aim of weakening the country's scientific and technological capabilities. However, after overcoming this damage, we will rebuild the research infrastructure stronger than before," he said.
Afshin emphasized that Iran aims to become a global leader in science and technology, arguing that countries investing in innovation and research will be better positioned for future success.
The remarks come as Iranian authorities continue to assess and disclose the impact of the recent conflict across various sectors.
However, Tehran has not released detailed information regarding which research facilities were damaged or how many institutions were affected. The reported estimate of 300 million dollars in losses has not been independently verified.
