The construction of Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium in Dighlia, Khulna is going on at a fast pace.
The government has taken the initiative to build one Sheikh Russell mini stadium in each upazila with the aim of improving and spreading the quality of sports at the village level.
In continuation of this, the Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium is being built on a 3-acre plot of land adjacent to Hajigram Atai Nagar Asharyan Project of Senhati Union of Dighlia Upazila in Khulna. A contractor called Marjan Global is doing the construction of the stadium at a cost of 5 crore 70 lakh rupees. Already 70 percent of the work has been completed.
Sheikh Aslam, the former national football team owner and owner of Marjan Global, said that Sheikh Russel Mini in every upazila of the honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the development and expansion of sports at the village level.
The people of the area are happy as a result of the construction of the upazila stadium. Md. Milzar Hossain, an international athlete and a native of Dighlia, said that if the stadium is built in Dighlia, the sportspersons of the area will get an opportunity to develop their talent. The quality of sports will improve.
Incidentally, the government is constructing Sheikh Russell mini stadiums in 490 upazilas across the country considering the sports of children, teenagers and young people. Construction of 125 has already been completed. Construction of 186 t's in the second phase is underway.
The Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium is being built on a 3 acre land adjacent to Hajigram Atai Nagar Ashrayan Project of Senhati Union of Dighlia Upazila under the project titled Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium Construction Project (2nd Phase). 5 crore 70 lakh rupees have been spent on the construction of the project.
On February 2, 2023, the then State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Zahid Hasan Russell inaugurated the construction of the stadium.
