In the recent IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), both team captains, KL Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad, have been fined Rs 12 lakh each due to their teams maintaining a slow over rate. This violation of the IPL Code of Conduct related to minimum over-rate offences resulted in the fine, marking their first offence of the season.

The match itself saw LSG defeating defending champion CSK by eight wickets at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. CSK, batting first, posted a competitive total of 176 for six, with Ravindra Jadeja leading the charge with an unbeaten 57. Moeen Ali (30 off 20) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (28 off 9) contributed crucial runs towards the end.

In response, LSG's opening pair of KL Rahul (82) and Quinton de Kock (54) built a formidable partnership of 134 runs, guiding their team to victory with 180 for 2 in just 19 overs. This win for LSG helped them bounce back from consecutive defeats and strengthened their position in the IPL standings.

On the other hand, CSK, entering the match with two previous wins, suffered their third loss of the IPL season.
