Defending champions Bangladesh advanced to the semifinals of the fourth edition of the Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi tournament by defeating Poland 79-28 in their second match of the day at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.

With this victory, the hosts secured their fourth consecutive win, leading Pool A with eight points. Bangladesh will face Nepal tomorrow (Friday) at 6 pm in their final group match, which will determine the group champion. Nepal, with six points from three matches, and Indonesia, with four points from three matches, are also vying for the remaining semifinal spots from the group. Both teams will play later today.

Bangladesh's victory over Poland was a dominant performance, with the hosts proving too strong in both raiding and defense. Arduzzaman Munshi and his team outplayed Poland, who struggled to respond effectively. Bangladesh wore their second-choice ash and white outfit to avoid a clash with Poland's red, but their winning spirit remained unchanged. The team achieved seven lona (three in the first half and four in the second), underscoring the one-sided nature of the match.

This win marks the highest point haul for Bangladesh in this edition of the tournament. Notably, nearly 90 percent of Poland's points came from bonus sections rather than from touches or catches.

Skipper Arduzzaman Munshi, who led from the front with 25 points, was named Man of the Match. Razib Ahmed contributed 15 points to the scoreboard for his team.
