Khulna, Aug 18 (V7N) - Dengue cases are rising steadily in Khulna, with new patients reported daily. However, due to various factors, including political instability, neither the health department nor the Khulna City Corporation has taken significant action to combat the mosquito-borne disease this year. Khulna Medical College Hospital has yet to establish a separate ward for dengue patients, and mosquito control measures have come to a standstill.

Additionally, the City Corporation has not initiated efforts to identify Aedes mosquito larvae, the main carriers of dengue, within the city. This lack of action has left city residents concerned about a possible worsening of the situation.

Health department sources report that from January 1 to August 16, 183 people in Khulna have been infected with dengue. Of these, 172 have recovered after receiving treatment. Currently, six patients are undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital, while four others are in various public and private hospitals. Sadly, one person died while receiving treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital on August 14.
