Gaza, Feb 09 (V7N) – The Gaza Health Ministry has confirmed that 22 more bodies have been recovered from beneath the rubble in the besieged Gaza Strip, bringing the total death toll to 48,200. The ministry's statement on Saturday also reported that four more Palestinians were killed in the past 48 hours due to Israeli shelling.

In addition to the rising death toll, the ministry noted that six more injured people have been admitted to hospitals, increasing the total number of wounded from the conflict to 111,638.

A ceasefire between Israel and Palestine came into effect on January 19, ending over 15 months of intense fighting. However, since the truce, Palestinian health workers have been recovering bodies from the devastated landscape, with 572 bodies found under the rubble since the ceasefire began.

The United Nations reports that about 85% of Gaza's Palestinian population has been displaced by the prolonged Israeli offensive, which has left 60% of Gaza's infrastructure either damaged or destroyed. It is feared that many more bodies remain buried beneath the debris as search and recovery operations continue.
