A devastating road accident in Indian-administered Jammu  Kashmir has resulted in the loss of at least 10 lives, all of whom were migrant workers. Hindustan Times reported the tragic incident on Friday (March 29), revealing the grim toll of the accident.

The mishap occurred on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway during the early hours of Friday morning local time. The victims were en route to Srinagar when the vehicle they were traveling in veered off the highway, plunging into a 300-foot-deep ditch.

Authorities, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Quick Response Team (QRT), swiftly mobilized to initiate rescue operations at the accident site. The rescue efforts aim to locate any survivors and provide assistance to those affected by the tragedy.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the recent inclement weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir, characterized by rain and snowfall, may have contributed to the accident. The wet roads are suspected to have caused the vehicle to lose control, leading to the fatal plunge into the ditch.

As rescue operations continue and investigations unfold, the tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by migrant workers, particularly during adverse weather conditions and challenging road conditions.
