The state of emergency has been extended again before the three-year anniversary of Myanmar's junta government. This time period has been extended for 6 months. Media NDTV reported this information in a report.

Myanmar has been under a state of emergency since the junta came to power in a military coup in 2021. Many believe that the decision has come because the power of the junta government is threatened by the ongoing civil war between the junta government and the Three Alliance in Myanmar.

According to Mayawati's Telegram channel, Myanmar's military-run media, Junta chief Min Aung Hlaing considers it necessary to extend the state of emergency for another 6 months, so that the necessary programs can be undertaken to restore the normal atmosphere of stability and peace in the country.

Myanmar's junta forces operate according to the 2008 constitution. They claim that this constitution is still effective. According to the 2008 constitution, new elections must be held within six months of lifting the state of emergency.

According to a local monitoring organization in Myanmar, the junta has killed about 4,400 anti-coup people since 2021. However, armed resistance cannot be prevented even with so much repression.
