Islamic Resistance in Iraq, abbreviated as 'IRI'. The armed group has been in talks since Hamas's incursion into Israeli territory last October. But with the recent attack on a secret US military base in Jordan, the world's eyes are now on the armed group. On January 29, the BBC reported that three US soldiers were killed in a drone attack on a US base near the Jordanian border. The IRI claimed responsibility for the attack.

This armed group made its debut in 2020. This group was originally formed to prevent US military dominance in Iraq and Syria. However, not much information is available about Islamic Resistance in Iraq or IRI. Ahmed R. Hamid, Akram Kabi and Qais Khazali emerged as its top leaders. However, there is no information about the number of members of the armed group.

There is no clear information on how RRI is managed. Although there are videos of various armed activities of the group in various international media and social media, they also lack any credibility.

Various western intelligence agencies, including the United States, claim that Tehran has created the IRI to wage a shadow war on behalf of Iran. However, the rest of the Iranian-backed militias have less affinity with the Islamic Resistance. The armed group has been protesting US support for Israel's attack on Gaza.

So far, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility for at least 150 attacks on US troops in Iraq and Syria. However, the armed group has carried out at least 20 attacks in the last few days.
