Dhaka, Dec 31 (V7N) — The July Shaheed Smriti Foundation has so far distributed financial assistance amounting to Tk 47.9821 crore to the families of those killed and injured during the student-public uprising.
Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared the information with BSS on Tuesday, stating that a total of 2,228 individuals have received support, including 648 families of martyrs and 1,580 injured people.
Of the total amount, Tk 32.04 crore was provided to the families of martyrs, while Tk 15.58 crore was allocated for the injured. Each martyr’s family received an initial grant of Tk 5 lakh, while injured individuals were given Tk 1 lakh each under the government’s assistance programme.
Shafiqul Alam emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting the victims’ families and honouring their sacrifices. “We are committed to always standing by their side. We always want to remember their sacrifice to free them from tyranny,” he said.
The assistance programme, launched on November 2 under the banner 'Bangladesh Stands by the Martyrs', reflects the government's dedication to providing continuous support to those affected by the uprising.
