Dhaka, Feb 2 (V7N) –At least 20 people who died in a boat accident in Azdadia, Benghazi, Libya, have been buried, though their nationality remains unconfirmed due to the absence of documents.

However, the local Red Crescent believes they were Bangladeshi citizens, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a brief statement on Saturday, the ministry said the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya was informed that 20 bodies were buried in Azdadia as they were already decomposed.

"The deceased had no identification documents, and no one could confirm their nationality," the ministry said, adding that the accident site falls under the jurisdiction of the Benghazi government, and embassy officials have yet to receive permission to visit the area.
