Following days of scorching temperatures, the capital found solace as thunderstorms and hail brought relief from the relentless heat. Around 9 pm on Sunday, May 5th, stormy winds swept through the city, followed by drizzling rain and eventually hail around 10:30 pm. While the sudden downpour provided respite to residents, it also led to waterlogged streets and flooded areas in some parts of the city.

According to the Meteorological Department's forecast issued on Saturday morning, the country is expected to witness stormy weather for the next six days, commencing from Monday. This forecast includes thunderstorms, hailstorms, and lightning across various regions. Meteorologist Shahinul Islam cautioned that a monsoon storm, accompanied by thunder and isolated hailstorms, is anticipated to sweep over the nation within the next 72 hours, starting from Sunday afternoon.

The Meteorological Department's warning highlights the likelihood of increased rainfall across the country, contributing to the gradual alleviation of heatwave conditions observed in recent days.

Residents are advised to remain cautious and prepared for adverse weather conditions, as the intensity of rainfall is expected to escalate from Monday onwards. This shift in weather patterns offers hope for areas grappling with heatwaves, as temperatures are anticipated to gradually decrease in the coming days.
