Dhaka, Sep 10 (V7N) – Hasnat Abdullah, a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, clarified on Tuesday that the student leaders did not formally request security from the government through any official notice.

In a post on his verified Facebook profile, Hasnat wrote, "We did not come on a state visit, and we did not request security from the government through a notice."

He further explained, "We arrived as ordinary citizens to engage with students and the public. We seek the same level of security that any ordinary citizen would receive, nothing more. We are not aware of this notice and have not requested such security from the government."

The statement follows media reports indicating that a security request had been made for the central coordinators during their visits to divisional and district levels.

An order signed by Additional DIG (Operations) Nasian Bayezid on Monday stated that the central coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement had planned visits starting from September 8. It requested local authorities to coordinate with the deputy commissioners and ensure necessary security arrangements for the visits.
