Dhaka, Mar 08 (V7N) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali has announced that private security personnel deployed in residential areas and shopping malls during Eid will work as an auxiliary force to the police.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday afternoon, he stated that private security teams have been granted official permission to operate under police guidance, and the head of private security forces in these areas has been authorized to coordinate directly with law enforcement.
With markets and businesses staying open late in preparation for Eid, private security personnel will help maintain law and order alongside the police force.
The DMP Commissioner also issued a strict warning against mob justice, stating:
- No one is allowed to raid homes or businesses without legal authority.
- Suspicious activity should be immediately reported to the police instead of taking the law into one’s own hands.
- Those involved in vigilante actions will face exemplary punishment.
Additionally, he urged Dhaka residents to ensure the security of their homes and businesses before traveling to their hometowns for Eid, advising them to take necessary precautions to prevent theft or burglary.
