Dhaka, June 7 (V7N) – Metro rail operations have been suspended in Dhaka today (Saturday) in observance of Eid-ul-Azha. The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) made the decision to allow citizens to celebrate the religious festival in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
According to a DMTCL press release, metro rail services will resume from Sunday (June 8) on a limited basis, with trains operating every 30 minutes starting from 8 AM.
From Monday (June 9), trains will run according to the public holiday schedule, as part of the extended Eid break.
Officials stated that although a large number of residents have left Dhaka to celebrate Eid in their hometowns, limited metro operations from the day after Eid aim to serve those who remained in the city.
The government has declared a 10-day public holiday beginning June 5, covering all government, semi-government, autonomous and private institutions, including the Secretariat.
DMTCL has advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated through official channels for further announcements.
